You’re an independent female, spring break is coming up and you’re planning your next trip. But where to go? Nowadays, there are many great destinations to choose from but some are better than others for solo female travelers.

Japan
Japan is well known for being a safe country to travel to and this is especially true for solo female travelers. It has a superb transport system, one of the best in the world, making it simple and fast to get around. Iran
Iran might not be the first place you think of when considering an independent trip, but the number of solo female travelers have been slowly increasing over the last few years. The reason? Iranians have a reputation for being some of the most hospitable on the planet; they’re also very curious, especially if they see a solo female traveler, so you may get people asking about you and your trip – don’t worry, it’s all good-natured. Iran, being one of the oldest civilizations on Earth, has a multitude of historical sites to visit, such as Naqsh-e Jahan Square in Isfahan and Golestan Palace in Tehran. Tehran itself is known for being a very safe city; to make things easier for women, there are women-only carriages on the metro which are very clearly signed. Just remember to dress appropriately to avoid offending the locals.
Slovenia
For such a small country, Slovenia definitely packs a lot in. It has amazingly beautiful nature to explore: the Logar Valley National Park is absolutely stunning and offers plenty of hiking and biking opportunities; Bled is famous for its romantic mountain lake and castle; Triglav National Park has all manner of extreme activities, such as canyoning, rafting and paragliding; and Postojna Caves consist of 20 kilometers of underground caverns and tunnels. In fact, Slovenia is an extreme sports enthusiast’s dream: in Planica, there are opportunities for Nordic walking as well as being the home of the zip line with the steepest descent in the world, and the longest stone-block bridge, Solkan, is where you can bungee jump in picturesque surroundings. The capital Ljubljana is a charming city for strolling around and much more relaxed than other European capitals.
