Here are 5 Museums Off the Beaten Path in Los Angeles.

Petersen Automotive Museum
In an effort to keep things fresh, this 300,000 square foot museum only displays about 150 vehicles out of it’s collection at any period of time. The other half of the 300+ collection is in onsite storage ready to go on exhibition. A large part of The Museum’s focus is to collect and preserve historic vehicles, and a great deal of importance was placed from day one on acquiring a great number of significant vehicles of all shapes, sizes, makes, models, and purposes.

Museum of Jurassic Technology
This museum has a collection of a mixture of artistic, scientific, ethnographic, and historic, as well as some unclassifiable exhibits. The factual claims of many of the museum’s exhibits strain credibility, provoking an array of interpretations from commentators. In 1995 Lawrence Weschler wrote a book about the museum entitled Mr. Wilson’s Cabinet of Wonder: Pronged Ants, Horned Humans, Mice on Toast, And Other Marvels of Jurassic Technology, which describes in detail many of the museum’s exhibits.
