The Look
The hotel's lobby and entrance maintains a classic grandeur with stone pillars, marble floors, and antique light fixtures. With pictures of historic San Francisco hanging on the striped walls, the Whitcomb's rooms and suites vary in size and features but carry the same, early 20th century design. Cozy rooms are furnished with a bedside table, a chest of drawers, a chair, and a table or work desk. (Because of the historic nature of the hotel, in room furnishings may vary some)
Bed & Bath
With many pillows, white linens, and colorful blankets, guests generally find the beds to be comfortable though some mattresses may be older than others. Bathrooms are outfitted with a single sink and shower or shower/tub combination.
Beyond
Guests can start the day off with a coffee from the Starbucks within the hotel's lobby. For a more extensive breakfast, lunch, or dinner, guests will find that Florinda's Market Street Grill's menu ranges from eggs in the morning to steak, pastas, and seafood at dinner. In the evening, the hotel's Tavern piano bar provides live, in-house entertainment, beverages, and a small food menu. If guests are not too full from a meal at Florinda's, they can burn off a little energy in the fitness center. For groups, the Whitcomb has 20 meeting rooms and 25,000 square feet of meeting space. The hotel's large reception area is able to accommodate up to 600 people.

San Francisco also offers excellent dining, from fine, Greek fare at Kokkari Estiatorio to sweet eats at the Bi-Rite Creamery & Bakeshop.
