This hotel is mid-priced but excellent in its category. One of the reasons it is considered so is the luxury restaurant, Le Bourgeois. This restaurant offers favorite European dishes and a fantastic view of both the city and the hotel courtyard. An added touch is the live piano and/or violin music playing in the background.
This hotel is located near many of the attractions of HCMC. If you would like to visit the opera house, it is within a few steps of the front entrance to the hotel. City Backpackers Hostel
There are quite a few hostels in HCMC for backpackers. Some of them are very basic and others offer amenities that will make your stay feel like a refreshing break from backpacking. Which you choose depends on how basic you want it to be and to a degree, whether or not children are along on the trip.
The one I selected as best is City Backpackers Hostel, located in downtown HCMC. While you have access to a shared kitchen, the hostel also has a restaurant. Street food venders are not far away and you are right next to the Central Market. There are also laundry facilities. This hostel is not adults only, so if you have kids along on the trip, it will be fine.
