I recently spent some time in gorgeous Barcelona, but before I traveled there, I took some time to research a few of the hotels in the area.  I wanted to stay in a hotel that offered luxurious qualities, while being close to nearby attractions, shopping, and restaurants.  The W Barcelona seemed to fit all my requirements and then some, which should not have been surprising since it is a five-star destination accommodation!

When I arrived at W Barcelona, I walked into the gorgeous lobby and easily checked in for my stay.  The front desk staff was more than helpful, and I was thrilled to find out that the concierge was more than willing to assist me with any planning that I would need for attractions, dining, day trips, and more during my time there.  It is always so nice to know that I do not need to struggle with finding anything in the area or making my own arrangements for tours!

There are four hundred and seventy-three guest rooms and suites at this hotel, and while I would have loved to stay in a suite, I chose the fabulous sky guest room with a king-sized bed and a gorgeous city view.  I was speechless when I stepped through the doors of my room, as the view of the city’s skyline and the nearby water was amazing!  The bed was facing towards the windows, so that the view was the first thing I saw when I opened my eyes in the morning.  There was also a couch and a chair over by the windows, which allowed me to sit and stare out at the natural beauty of the area whenever I wished.

I should also mention that there was a wonderful entertainment system, complimentary water, and a coffee maker in the room as well.  However, I must admit that it did take me a while to notice those features since I was so mesmerized by the extraordinary view.

There are so many restaurants and bars at W Barcelona, and I wish that I could have dined at them all during my stay.  However, as I was strolling around the city and seeing the sights, plus experiencing the phenomenal nightlife, I ate some of my meals in other areas of the city.

I did grab a juicy burger and a couple of cocktails at the Salt Restaurant and Beach Club one night.  I did need to plan ahead for this meal, as reservations are required.  However, it only took one simple call to the concierge desk and I was ready for some fun in the sand.  As I ate my meal, I listened to the DJ play some upbeat music and watched others dancing in the background.  It was so nice to be able to relax and have some downtime in a fun atmosphere, while the sun was setting over the sand and the water.

Every time I visit a different area of the world, I try to eat at one fine dining restaurant.  In Barcelona, I chose Bravo24, which happened to be within W Barcelona.  I must say, that everything was better than I could have ever imagined.  After all, sometimes it is hit or miss with fine dining establishments in hotels!

The chef, Carles Abellán, has created a menu that is full of fish, prime cuts of meat, and seafood, and each dish has been prepared to completely bring out the natural flavors.  I ended up ordering a bottle of wine, which was recommended by my server, as being an excellent option for my meal.  I must warn you that reservations are normally required for this restaurant as well, and I had made them at the same time that I made the one for Salt Restaurant and Beach Club.

I am an early riser, so I spent many of my early morning hours inside the state-of-the-art fitness facility at W Barcelona.  This three hundred square meters space is filled with up-to-date technologically equipped fitness machines.  Once my workout was complete one day, I indulged in a partial day at Bliss Spa.  I had been so busy in recent months, that I hadn’t taken much time for me, and that completely changed during this visit.  I started with a hot salt scrub and followed that up with a triple oxygen treatment and a deep tissue massage.

On my last night in W Barcelona, I chose to stay in and ventured up to the 26th floor where Eclipse is located.  This exclusive club had me drinking and dancing until almost dawn, and I was a little worried that I would doze off back in my room afterwards and miss my return flight home.  However, every single minute of my night was fabulous as I made some new friends, had a few drinks, and reveled in my entire experience in the city and at the fantastic W Barcelona.  It was definitely a stay that I will never forget!
